Ecology
Club:
Students
in this Ecology Club will be working with people and community groups to
protect and restore the watershed of the Tarnava Mare river.
One of the many environmental issues here is water pollution
from industry, and improper sewage treatment. Through this Club
we'll learn about watershed ecology and sustainable use of land and
water resources. Students will also explore how the development
of sustainable communities will result in protection of water resources.
Discussions and games will center on watershed characteristics, human
activities resulting in water pollution and habitat destruction, the
importance of watershed monitoring, and methods for restoring water
quality and aquatic habitat. |

Environmental Projects Students
will be expected to work on one or more environmental projects to raise
awareness in the local community. These projects may include speaking
in the local high schools, training volunteers about water monitoring,
conducting stream surveys, initiating a stream cleanup involving public
participation, or leading a community forum on environmental issues. |
